About the program
What Is It?
This is a 12-week in-person, hands-on group powerlifting training program with full coaching.
What is the purpose of this program?
The purpose of this program is to prepare you to compete at a sanctioned OPA (CPU/IPF) powerlifting meet at the end of the 12 weeks.
Is there anything else I need to know?
We are selecting up to 15 people to participate in this program. For those who are selected, we will cover the full meet fees ($75 lifter's fee and $15 anti-doping fee) for the sanctioned meet scheduled at the end of the 12 weeks. We will also offer the chance to earn one of three scholarships ($250, $125, $75) that may be used towards future training.

‘Damien and Garrett’s coaching gave me the opportunity to get the World record squat.’
Wanted to say thanks again for the superb handling man, you and Garrett did an incredible job. That was easily one of the best experiences of my life, first 9/9 competition with a 20kg total PR, honestly couldn’t have asked for anything more!

If you’d have told me 6 months ago that I’d be able to squat 150lbs for reps without issue (and add 80lbs to my total!) I probably wouldn’t have believed you BUT I TOTALLY DID IT AND IT WAS AMAZING. Competition aside, I feel amazing. So glad I started working with you.
You guys worked so hard to give us the best possible coaching, so much respect and appreciation for you!
Thank you to the awesome Team Canada coaching staff of Damien Wilmot and Garrett Bentley. You guys were a pleasure to work with. Top notch in every way.
I started powerlifting around August 2016 without any thorough knowledge of the main lifts, programming and general nutrition. Finding The Lab: Barbell & Social Club and hiring Damien Wilmot, Team Canada Powerlifting coach, has helped me learn in-depth efficient lifting, obtain better eating habits and achieve new personal records in all three lifts.
I met coach Damien in May 2016, as he was one of my Canada coaches – for the IPF World Competition in Killeen Texas. Damien was quick to invite me into his gym, and gave me some great tips going into Worlds. I came out of worlds with 3 golds, and 3 world records. I have since met with Damien for some technique training. Recently he has started programming me for NAPF bench, and hopefully another world competition in Calgary. He has an amazing amount of knowledge, and after 3 years of powerlifting, I’m still learning SO much from him. He is patient, yet relentless, a great combination:) Thanks Damien
Hey coach, thank you for giving me the knowledge and motivation to be a well rounded lifter. I have been looking for that competitive edge when it comes to the sport of powerlifting and ever since joining The Lab I feel as if it is a start of something great.
I’ve tried many online programs but I’ve only gotten so far with them. With your (Damien) programming I feel as if it caters more specifically to my needs. Add to that pointers on how to lift correctly and safely so that i can have longevity within the sport. I also appreciate feeling a sense of a tight knit community within the gym. I’ve met people from different disciplines and also different levels of skills. The best part is it did not bring about an intimidating atmosphere everyone was friendly, helpful and very motivating. I appreciate all that you have done and helped me with with this hobby of mine.
I’d like to give a big thank you to Damien for taking me under his wing so to speak at this meet and trusting me with some calls I made, it was an absolute pleasure to coach under you and I can’t wait to do it all over again sooner than later.
